Resend an invoice when the recipient didn't get it

When a customer says they never received an invoice, you can resend the invoice directly from Konto. In Yfirlit reikninga you can check Saga skjalsins — when and how the invoice was sent, and whether it was delivered. If the recipient's e-mail address or kennitala is wrong, you can correct it before resending. Large companies, municipalities and public bodies often only accept XML invoices via the messaging broker.

  1. 1

Resend an invoice: find it in Yfirlit reikninga

Select Yfirlit reikninga in the left-hand menu. Find the invoice the recipient says they did not receive — you can search by name or invoice number — and click it to open.

    Check Saga skjalsins

In the invoice panel you will see the Saga skjalsins section. It shows:

    • When the invoice was sent
    • Whether it went by e-mail or as XML via the messaging broker
    • Whether delivery succeeded or failed

If a delivery is marked as failed, or the e-mail address looks wrong, correct it before resending.

  3. 3

Check the e-mail address and click „Senda aftur”

Click „Senda aftur” in the invoice panel. In the dialog that opens you can see the e-mail address the invoice will be sent to — make sure it is correct and edit it if needed. Then click „Senda” to send the invoice by e-mail.

If the recipient only accepts XML, see the next step.

Choose „Senda sem XML” if the recipient only accepts XML

If the recipient is a large company, municipality or public body, they often only accept XML invoices via the messaging broker. In that case select „Senda sem XML” in the resend dialog.

Check the kennitala (GLN) the XML invoice will be sent to — it should match the recipient's kennitala. If a claim is not appearing in the payer's online bank, a wrong kennitala is by far the most common cause. Correct it if needed and click „Staðfesta”. Read more about XML invoices in Konto.

    Confirm that the delivery succeeded

Saga skjalsins updates automatically after sending and shows when the invoice was resent, which route it took and whether delivery succeeded. You can resend the invoice as many times as needed — each time a new entry is added to Saga skjalsins so you always have a precise record of what happened.

Check the identifier (GLN) the XML invoice is being sent to — it should be the recipient's identifier. If the payment request does not appear in the payer's online banking, the most common reason is an incorrect identifier. Correct it if needed and then tap „Confirm”. Claim not showing in the payer's online bank

If the payer cannot find the claim in their online bank, the most common cause is a wrong kennitala on the customer card. Go to Viðskiptavinir, open the relevant customer and make sure the kennitala is correct. Correct it and resend the invoice as XML.

Sending to multiple e-mail addresses

You can add extra e-mail addresses on the customer card under Viðskiptavinir → Viðbótarupplýsingar → Aukanetföng so the next invoice goes to all of them automatically. Addresses must be separated by a comma with no space, e.g. konto@konto.is,other@konto.is.

Common questions

How do I resend an invoice when the recipient didn't get it?
Go to Yfirlit reikninga, click the invoice and check Saga skjalsins to see when and how it was sent. Then click „Senda aftur”, verify the e-mail address and send.
What does a failed delivery in Saga skjalsins mean?
It means the invoice did not reach the recipient. The most common cause is an incorrect e-mail address. Check the address in the resend dialog, correct it if needed and send again.
Can I change the recipient's e-mail address when I resend?
Yes. When you click „Senda aftur” a dialog opens where you can edit the e-mail address before sending. The invoice will then go to the new address.
When should I send an invoice as XML instead of e-mail?
If the recipient is a large company, municipality or public body, they often only accept XML invoices via the messaging broker. Ask the recipient which method they prefer if you are unsure.
The customer's claim is not showing in their online bank — what do I do?
The most common cause is a wrong kennitala on the customer card. Go to Viðskiptavinir, check the kennitala, correct it and resend the invoice as XML.
How many times can I resend an invoice?
You can resend an invoice as many times as needed. Each time you resend, a new entry is added to Saga skjalsins so you can always track the status.
What is a GLN kennitala and why does it matter for XML delivery?
GLN (Global Location Number) is an electronic address for XML invoices and is almost always the same as the recipient's kennitala. If the kennitala is wrong, the XML invoice will not reach the recipient and the claim will not appear in their online bank.
